It serves as the gateway for admission to 5-year integrated LLB (UG) and one-year LLM (PG) courses. The exam is conducted for entry into 24 NLUs for UG courses and 21 NLUs for PG courses.

The exam, administered in the offline, pen-and-paper format, assesses candidates in English, Current Affairs, and GK, Legal Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Mathematics for UG courses.
